"An Invisible Man can rule the world!!!" What a bold and true statement. It all begins with a stranger looking for shelter from the snow and a room to rent so he can conduct his experiments and ends with a police force and villiagers forming a human chain to try and locate an invisible man. Sounds exciting, YOU BET!!!! This movie has classic written all over it. How could it miss? It is the first film that dealt with invisibality and it was directed by James Whale(I read somewhere that this was his favorite film-strange- I thought it would be Bride Of Frankenstein) Also unusual was the fact that whoever played the title role would not be seen in the film until the final scene, only his voice would be heard. Claude Rains had a destinctive voice and because he took the role shows he was not an egomaniac. Una O'Conner and her shrieking voice added a touch of comedy as well as the scene when the invisible man steals a bicycle and another scene when he puts on just a pair of pants , grabs a basket and starts singing 'Here We Go Gathering Nuts In May" Cinema Greatness!!! One blooper in the film is when they were tracking his steps in the snow, there were shoe prints rather than footprints. Remember he had to be nude to be invisible so he couldn't wear shoes. A minor oversight in such a fantastic film!
